What happened here

Golleschauer Portland-Zementfabrik AG passed into the economic administration of the SS, and the labour was supplied by a subcamp set up in July 1942. In January 1945 more than a thousand men were held here.

The work of making cement, in the dust, at the kilns and at the loading bays, was among the heaviest in the whole network of subcamps.

What is left

In the centre of Goleszow, on ul. Cieszynska, stands the building of the former cement plant management. During the war it housed the offices of Golleschauer Portland Zement-Fabrik AG. It is one of the few surviving structures connected with the subcamp.

A plaque with a Polish inscription commemorating the prisoners was placed on the wall of the building in 1969.
