What happened here

From the autumn of 1942 to September 1943 about a hundred and fifty prisoners worked in the Pszczyna forests for the forestry board. They lived in barracks put up at the edge of the commune.

Kobior was larger than the other forestry subcamps, but it worked on the same principle: the camp was built where the work was.

What is left

Nothing is left of the camp, because the wooden barracks were dismantled after the war.

The place is nevertheless easy to find thanks to the monument on ul. Lesnikow. It is a rare case where the commemoration survived even though the camp disappeared.
