What happened here

The rest home at Miedzybrodzie was meant to be a place of rest for SS men serving at the camp. Between twenty and forty prisoners put it up; once it opened, a group of about ten women worked there.

A dozen or so men were brought in regularly for auxiliary work. The centre operated until January 1945, that is longer than most of the industrial subcamps.

What is left

The building stands in Miedzybrodzie Bialskie, in the commune of Czernichow. It has survived in a state that still allows its original purpose to be recognised.

Neither in the village nor at the building itself is there any information that an SS rest home from Auschwitz, and the subcamp attached to it, operated here during the war.
