What happened here

In all, about three hundred and sixty male and female prisoners were held at Babice. The women's camp numbered about two hundred people; on 17 January 1945 a hundred and fifty nine men remained here.

The Wirtschaftshöfe, that is the camp's farms, supplied food to the SS garrison. Their prisoners worked in the fields all year round.

What is left

On ul. Rozana in Babice the former school building in which the women prisoners were quartered survives. The ground floor held the rooms for the SS guards.

A metal plaque was placed on the front wall of the building in 2004, stating that between 1943 and 1945 the Babice subcamp of KL Auschwitz was located here.
