Ironworks

What happened here

From May 1943 prisoners produced anti-aircraft guns for the Wehrmacht at the Eintracht ironworks. The strength varied from four hundred to one thousand three hundred and seventy four people; in January 1945 there were one thousand two hundred and ninety seven.

The works belonged to the Berghütte concern, with its head office in Cieszyn. Armaments production made the subcamp a priority site, and that is why it operated until the very end.

What is left

The grounds of the subcamp are today occupied by the Zgoda workers' allotment gardens on ul. Wojska Polskiego in Swietochlowice. The only surviving element of the camp is three stone posts of the main gate.

In 1970 a bronze plaque with elements symbolising the camp striped uniforms was fixed to the new administrative building.
