What happened here

Fürstengrube GmbH was founded jointly by I.G. Farbenindustrie and the Pszczyna mining company. The camp was built beside the mine to shorten the way between roll call and the descent underground.

On 17 January 1945 one thousand two hundred and eighty three men were held here. Coal mining and the construction of the new Fürsten pit went on until the last days.

What is left

At the level crossing on ul. Murckowska in Myslowice, in the Wesola-Murcki district, only a seventy metre section of the southern wall survives.

At the former entrance to the camp grounds stands a commemoration: a two and a half metre white cross of welded steel tubing, with stone vases at its corners.
