What happened here

From July 1944 prisoners renovated a factory hall of the Gleiwitzer Hütte and then worked on the production of weapons, ammunition and railway wheels. On 17 January 1945 there were six hundred and nine of them.

The works belonged to the Vereinigte Oberschlesische Hüttenwerke AG concern.

What is left

The subcamp stood on the grounds of what is today the Gliwice Technical Equipment Works on ul. Robotnicza. The complex survived almost untouched, which is exceptional across the whole network.

On the square by the main works road stands a monument commemorating the suffering and death of the prisoners of Gleiwitz III.
