What happened here

From February 1944 between three and six hundred men worked at the Piastschächte pit and on the construction of the Günther pit. On 17 January 1945 there were five hundred and eighty six of them.

The subcontractors on the construction were the firms Schüchtermann und Kremer Bau AG and Beton-Monteur Bau.

What is left

Lager Heimat stood roughly halfway along ul. Paderewskiego in Ledziny. Nothing of the original camp buildings survives.

A small monument was raised on the site of Lager Heimat in 1964. At Lager Günther III there is no commemoration at all.
